Welcome to the Official Website of Consulate General of Nepal in Kolkata, West Bengal. Consulate General of Nepal in Kolkata is one of the earliest missions set up in the year 1948 A.D. Lt. Gen. Daman Shamsher Rana was appointed as the first Consul General of Nepal in 1948 A. D. Since 1948 Nineteen Consul General served in that capacity. The role and responsibility of this Consulate general is primarily inspired by trade, transit and bilateral relations between Government of Nepal and India. Nepal and India enjoy excellent bilateral ties. Founded on the age-old connection of history, culture, tradition and religion, these relations are close, comprehensive and multidimensional and are pronounced more in political, social, cultural, religious and economic engagements with each other.
